Wozwolf Rally

The X rated

31st August to 2nd September

At last I made it to the Wozwolf Rally, I have had tickets for the last 3 years, but things have always got in the way, however August 31st found me at the lincolnshire, battling to put up my tent in the wind.

17 Wozwolf and lots of helpers make this a smoothly run rally

Friday night we had "Uniting the Elements" "Beholder" "Too Rex" and "Vampires Rock"

Saturday we had "General Skullduggery" "Exhibit A" "The Almaboobies" "Dizzy lizzie" and The Gangsters of Ska"

with a custom show, very silly games and 20 real ales it was superb.

I even managed to fit in visiting my friends in Lincoln as well

a brilliant weekend

Wozwolf RC Rally 26th to 30th August

Wozwolf was another one of those rallies I’d had high on my list for a visit for some time. I had regularly bumped into members of the rally club at various events, and was thinking about taking the plunge when; a, I got the right days off for once, and b, the whole damn lot of my local’s reprobates “ The Denholme Frog Boilers” told me they were going. What choice had I got?
The Wozwolf Rally Club is one of those clubs that seem to be homeless, that is their members come from all over. If they have a spot they call home then it’s the site of their rally, the Newark Showground.
Now I will get this apology in before I get started, due to the problems we have had with the YB website this is the second time I have written this report, I keep no notes, and a lot of beer has run under the bridge since then, so if my days get mixed up into one, then you know why!
My trip down from God’s own county was a pleasant one. Nice bright dry weather down the A1 makes a nice change. The site was easy to find around a few roundabouts and down a little lane next to an aircraft museum. The site is quite large, but I had my directions from the boilers “ Go to the far side of the field, to the left of the toilets”. Found em first go. They had snuck themselves into a nice spot in a corner of the field and built a fence of plastic tape to keep out the riff raff. Still I went in.
These lot rally in style, or rather they try. They had erected two very nice gazebos and fastened them the fence, nice and cosy with a little table for the cards and beer. (More of this later) I put up my lonely tent amongst the group and went to explore the site. Well laid out I thought, plenty of stalls, with food vans a plenty. You could get all the main food types, curries, chips, burgers, pizzas and pies. Heavens!
As well as a large concert type hall a stage with two very long bars, there was another marquee with a smaller bar and stage. The site was one great campsite, flat and well drained. Toilets were well placed, and there was a shower block with hot water.
It has long been a puzzle in Denholme, at least to us off-cumdens, as to why Denholmer’s are called Frog boilers. The name seems to come from the mouths of those lesser souls from down the hill in Oxenhope and Leeming. Whether it dates back to the Napoleonic wars, or from a shortage of Haddock in the local chippy, I don’t know, but the gastronomic delights cooked up on one small stove and a barbeque was nothing but a joy. Garlic mussels was the cry and we all dashed forward to sample this profusion of both smell and taste, and dip tha bread in. A table had been laid with all manner of tasty morsels, salads meats and breads.
Hang on a mo! Is this a bike rally? After our splendid repast we all made our way to the bar to sample the ales, listen to the music, and chew the fat with acquaintances old and new. After my fill I retired for the night!
During the night it got a little bit windy, I heard the others return and settle down to a few beers and a hand or two of cards in their gazebo home. I can even remember hearing a crash and an odd word of astonishment and one could say perhaps profanity. I turned over and drifted back to sleep.
The morning was bright and warming. I arose from my tent to wander off in search of some crispy bacon and eggs and almost fell over the remains of one green and white stripy gazebo piled in a heap. O dear never mind.
The others slept on, so I took the bike took a trip down to Skeggy to see the sea. Upon my return, the others had regained their composure from the night before and had re-erected their dining table across two bins, the gazebo now performing the role of a tablecloth.
To be honest I found the weekend’s entertainment a bit of a contradiction they were ether very good or terrible. However, I think music is very much to ones taste, and each to his own, as others may have thought different.
Other forms of entertainment were extremely popular, despite the technical problems of not having a mic, or a suitable stage outfit, the Chinese artist was very good and I think pulled it off without anyone noticing. The crowd really got behind her and gave her lots of encouragement. So much so in fact, that I couldn’t get to the front to take any photo’s. Still I managed a few from the far back of the hall, with those with me getting such a good view from my camera screen, that they objected when I finished.
Bike rallies always have a show and this was no exception, though like many others I get as much please just wandering around gawping at this old bike and that around the campsite. Lined up for the show though, was both a Boss Hogg, and a Triumph Rocket, and it was good to compare these bigger bikes.
I really enjoyed this rally and will be looking forward to returning back next year. My thanks as usual go to the unsung heroes, the organisers, especially the ones you never see in the background somewhere.
A special personal thank you goes to all the Frog Boilers, who were brill.
Willy

Ï'll Have Eight of the Eight"

As we settled in with our first round at the bar, we took in the atmosphere with a little people watching. A fairly large and loud group of guys had almost completely filled up the front room of the pub. One of the guys walked up behind me at the bar and triumphantly ordered in an English accent, "I'll have eight of the Eight". Hmmm, "eight of the Eight"; I have heard a lot of people order a round of drinks before, but this one remains etched in my mind.
The man ordering the beer was Shorty (yes he was short), and he was a member of a Wozwolf motorcycle club www.wozwolf.co.uk out of Yorkshire England. The boys were in the country for a biker rally, and stopped by the pub for an afternoon of pint slamming. The "Eight" that they ordered was St Bernardus Prior 8, an outstanding dark Dubbel ale . Biker guys drinking high quality Belgium beer, kind of destroyed my image of bikers slamming down Rally Beer and crushing the cans on their heads in Sturgis. Yes, these English lads showed a refined taste in beer escalating them into an elite class in my mind (except for our favorite Jack who kept trying to get all the ladies to show their tattoos. I wonder if he had any luck?- I'll send him a Sturgis brochure).

"Hey up ! A booze up !"

"It was, a bit"

"Looks like a pretty good session... a scale model of the rock'n'blues show "

"The atmosphere was brilliant, everyone was there to have fun and party and thats what happened.

There were 1400 people there and there was not one hint of trouble.

If invited, I would certainly go again"

My Pick of the Best from Bikersweb Forum (Wozwolf 2004 Rally)

absolute cracker of a 'do', went to it last year and loved it!

great games, even for a non-believer like me, good bands, inside at night in HUGE hall, its a county show ground so good loos, etc

organised without being heavy handed, very friendly bunch, invariably sells out so get yer tickets in!

Great security as well, bike 'tied' to rider so no fecker can leave with yer bike, if yer wrist band and number plate dont tie up, the bike aint leaving the site.

They even come around and force archers down yer throat as a 'welcome' drink!

one of the best rallys of the year, well organised some great bands and run by some of the nicest people you could ever meet. exellent wozwolf see you next year:D

and the female stripper was ****ing gorgeous;)

Where wer you all ?? - l;ooked around for POB and Minxy , but didn't catch up with any of you... never mind was a blindin' do nad even the band in the marquee on sunday night was a good'un .. out of tune in some places but provide the tunes to bellow along to and jig about that everyone wanted at that point.

Now just need to work out at what point I was abducted by aliens, given a hangover in exchange for all my money , and deposited back in the tent :)

Apparently it took me three hours from leaving the marquee on the last night to get back to my tent , and I smelt strongly of schnapps when I eventually turned up :)

yup i was there, and what a blinding rally it was too.

I gotta agree with the club annoucement on sat that next year will be a blue badge event only limiting the number of cars on site, (coz if ya bikes broken, why arn`t you at home spending the beer money fixing it, so you can go to another rally the following weekend).
but I might add that the number of disabled helpers might be looked at too, I might be out of place but why would someone require 6 - 10 helpers as has happen at another rally, abusing the space allocated to disabled camping.

And the rest

anyone going/been to the wozwolf rally at newark, heard some good reports on it got tickets.

Its also a 3 nighter, which is cool, and loads to do off site in that part of the country.

I'll say hello Frenchie, I'm usually with a few mates at rallies so don't normally socialise and when I feel too pissed it's best that I don't say hello to strangers although you're not really strangers just strange.
How did you know there is a missus hardtail?

I am the fat ,dyed red head bird with attitude and heaps of bling sat with snaf, , blinged, little , mad bearded and sleeved,

'Cept for my mate Mary who is friends with the Woz Wolf crowd so goes to party with them.... an' this year she will dragging Jules along , with little persuasion as she will be the one grinning like a loon on the S reg Black XJR1200 looking very shiny with all the goodies on and only 4.5 K on the clock :)

Why will she be grinning as she is waiting to pick it up , after buying it from a local shop on saturday , who had just bought it from it's second owner who has only done 500 miles on it ! The first owner traded it in for a 1300 and the second guy basically took it home and tarted it up and never rode it ! Guess who is gonna be making up for lost time on it :) She has'nt stopped grinning since she put the deposit down.

Will be there on the Friday night, riding up with Mary's other half

An excellent rally and definitely a definite for next year :D

The male stripper was fuggin hilarious, I'm sure he had a transfer tattoo on his left upper arm just to help him appeal to the audience. Big lad tho ;)
